Germany will completely and permanently abandon energy carriers in the future From Russia. This was stated at a joint conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba by the head of German diplomacy Annalena Berbock, FAZ reports.

“We are reducing our dependence on Russian energy resources to zero with all the consequences. And this is forever, — she said.

Burbock also stated that there could be no agreements with Russia behind Ukraine's back. In addition, she promised Kyiv support for EU accession, emphasizing that “no shortcut” not possible here.

Burbock became the first member of the German Cabinet to visit Ukraine after the start of the Russian special operation on February 24. In mid-April, the Bild newspaper reported that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier also wanted to come to Kyiv, but Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky refused to accept him. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called the rejection annoying. He also said that the position of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to Steinmeier interferes with the chancellor's visit to Kyiv. Later, Zelensky phoned Steinmeier, and, according to the German side, the politicians “removed the annoying factors that were in the past.”

Since the beginning of the special operation, the EU countries have introduced five packages of sanctions against Moscow. The restrictions affected, among other things, the top officials of the state, large industrial and financial organizations, the reserves of the Central Bank and the supply of certain types of energy resources. At the same time, the sanctions did not affect the import of Russian oil and gas.
